Far Cry 6 is another game in the Far Cry franchise coming to us this year. I will go through everything we have learned so far about the game and share my opinion on some of the stuff presented to us. You will find Far Cry 6 Preview below, as well as my own breakdown of the new Far Cry 6 trailer.
Far Cry 6 Release Date
One of the most notable things from this new, gameplay trailer was the release date of October 7th, 2021. The game was first scheduled to release in February this year, but later on, got delayed indefinitely. Now we have learned that the new date is set for October.

What has Changed?
Similarly to Dying Light 2, we did not see a lot of changes compared to its previous entry in the series. The game looks great in the graphics department, but I have one issue with what we have seen so far. Facial animations seem to be pretty stiff and out of place like it was a game from 2012. I know it is a hard part to master, and many games struggle with it, but it looks just weird in comparison to the beautiful cars, characters, weapons, landscapes, buildings, and everything else.
Gameplay will be the usual Ubisoft game, with emphasis on the open world, taking down outposts and clearing sections of the map from baddies. We do not if there is any new mechanics, but hopefully, we will be pleasantly surprised. We have also been told that CO-OP is returning in Far Cry 6, and this time all of the players will save their progress, not only the host of the game which is a welcome change.

What is New?
So what is new in this Far Cry 6 Preview? There are not many things in the game. We see, however, the introduction of “Amigos”. It works in a very similar way to the companions from Far Cry 5, but it contains only pets, from what we know so far. We have already seen a Crocodile [name: Guapo], and a cute handicapped dog [name: Chorizo]. There were also numerous teases of a rooster, white panther, and depending on how you look at it a horse? [could be just a method of transportation].
One notable addition that we might end up seeing is the third-person mode. We have seen teases of it in the gameplay trailer. We could also expect much more focus on the story and characters. We will have an option to choose our protagonist's gender, and we have also seen the addition of third-person perspective cutscenes into the game.
Disguises? In a story trailer, we saw our hero wearing a soldier's uniform. That leads me to believe that we might be able to disguise ourselves either in story missions, open world, or in both.
This is speculating based on what we were shown but we saw some weird backpacks with various abilities, some of which could include:
- Flamethrowers?
- Electrifying Weapons?
- Jetpacks?

What Did I Like?
I loved the atmosphere of the game, the relations between people, and the emphasis on heavy drug trafficking, cartels, and family bonds.
I am sure the gameplay will be fun like in every other Far Cry game, so I am glad the game stays true to its roots.
The Capitol is awesome. It is the first big city in a Far Cry series which you will be able to explore horizontally and vertically. Another amazing aspect I am hyped for is the weapons, I love these handmade guns with weird special abilities and/or interactions.
Last, but not least... NOT HAVING TO FIGHT ALL THE TIME. The big throw off for me in Far Cry 5 was that it was gorgeous, and if I wanted to explore the map, and look at most of the places, there would ALWAYS be some cars patrolling the road, that would immediately start shooting at me, even if I was only looking around without harming anyone. Now we will have the ability to bribe some of the guards. We could also holster our weapons, so we would be able to go through the city in non-restricted areas and not having to shoot all the time.
Oh and Macarena Gun!!!
What Did I NOT Like?
As the last point of my Far Cry 6 Preview, I would like to address my concerns over the size of the game. I am a little afraid the game will be overwhelming, similar to Assasin’s Creed Valhalla. From what we have seen, the map looks huge, and sometimes it is a downside. Hopefully, we will get enough variety in activities and missions, as well as means of transportation, so it will not feel boring and forced upon the players to play the game until the very end.

Far Cry 6 Preview | Summary
Far Cry 6 is looking like possibly the best one in the entire series. I love the atmosphere of cartels, drug trafficking, etc. and I wish it was exploited more in games. We know that Ubisoft has a tendency to make very similar games, but we had some time between Far Cry 5 and Far Cry 6 and hopefully, we will also see some new additions in regards to gameplay and story. That would be all for my Far Cry 6 preview, and New Far Cry 6 Trailer Breakdown.
Far Cry 6 is scheduled to release on October 7th, 2021 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One X/S, Xbox Series X/S.
