The M-179 Achilles is a Sniper Rifle featured in Cyberpunk 2077. It is a Tech Weapon created by Militech.

How To Get the M-179 Achilles - Weapon Location:

You can purchase the M-179 Achilles from the various Weapon Shops / Vendors in Night City. Alternatively, you can obtain weapons without spending Eurodollars by defeating and looting your enemies.

M-179 Achilles Stats:

Weapon stats change based on their rarity (from Common to Legendary) and on your character's level. The more you advance in the game, the more you will find better weapon variants.

Since patch 1.52 I've seen several other Achilles that you can get. For starters next to the megabuilding across from Embers there's a place where you can get the legendary solo jacket (There's videos on youtube if you're wondering where to get it) that requires fourteen or so technical to get into it. Once you get in there there's a lot of other things in there (mainly scopes and junk) but in one of the boxes there's the crafting spec for the Common version of the Achilles. It's not the legendary version unfortunately but it's better than not having one.

There's an uncommon to rare version in northern Japantown that you can get by doing one of the random assault things (the ones that show up on the mini-map as a star) it's kinda concealed in a small alleyway with bars and stuff but it it's on the main road going from Watson to Japantown you just have to find it.

There's another common Achilles that you can get during the reported crime activity in the glen that gives you the crafting spec for the Yinglong (It's the one with all the animals in it). However it never changes rarity as far as I'm aware.

There are several more that require you to go on in the story a bit to get, but some of them change randomly ever since the last patch....

I just wanted to say that since patch 1.5 both the crunch mods have been nerfed to hell and the fires 2 rounds at once attribute no longer seems to work at all anymore (it still shows that you're firing more bullets but it does nothing for the DPS of the weapon at all). Granted it's still doing more damage than the base Achilles does, but there are now other attributes that work better thanks to the nerfing CDPR did. The best ability for the Achilles now would be either the one that increases the charge multiplier by 40% or the one that decreases the charge time by 50% as both of these attributes still work as they did before.

It took me a while to figure this out (unfortunately I'm blind to the obvious sometimes) but if you're wanting to use the buy/reload trick to get an achilles, or any other tech weapon with the fires two rounds at once attribute and a charge multiplier added to it you'll actually have to get the base weapon with the charge multiplier to appear in the shop's inventory. If the base weapon has a charge multiplier when you do the buy/reload trick then the version with an attribute attached to it will have the charge multiplier as well. It'll cut down on your reloading hell a bit, but it's still hard to get the best weapon.

If you're starting a new game and can cross over into the other areas of the city (though they're really trying to patch them out of existence) there is an epic Achilles that you can find in an area in Japantown. It has a really cool looking silver paint scheme that I really wish a legendary one could get, but they're only stock looking in stores.

Unfortunately I don't have a picture of the location to show everyone, but I'll do my best to tell you how to get it. Ordinarily you wouldn't be able to get it until after the heist....which should be obvious, but I think that it's actually at one of the reported crime activities.

It won't hurt the quest if you get it though as it's one of the extra item things you see in them (it's not in the box with the quest icon on it). Anyway to get it you have to go to the southern most part of Japantown where there's a big building/bridge like thing going into Vista del ray. The area you're looking for on the map will be the building just north of the part of the bridge that's in Japantown If you have the fast travel point that says Metro: Japantown South it's literally straight north of the travel point. You'll find the chest with the weapon in it in a closed off area with people hanging in pexiglass containers. I think that you get an iconic weapon from the boss of this area, but I can't remember if that's right or not.

You'll be able to use this Achilles immediately when you get it no matter what level you're at so it's a very useful weapon to get if you can't get/make a legendary one. Also it can have the fires two shots at once attribute so it's definitely a great weapon for any early game (so long as you can actually get it).

After update 1.3 you can now get a car if you don't kill Nash during the Ghost Town mission leaving you without the Widow Maker weapon. And while that's pretty bad you can technically get a version of the Achilles that is virtually identical to it.

One is rather easy as all you do is find an Achilles in a chest and reload it until you get the right version, one can be found in the Disasterpiece main mission inside the building with all of the scavenger thugs. It's in the middle of the room where two thugs were standing and while it'll probably be Epic or purple when you first see it, but if you're above level thirty one you can get it to become legendary or orange. But it's really better to try it at higher levels as the chance of it being legendary increases the higher level you are.

The second method is a little more complex, but has nothing to do with your level. And honestly speaking you can start trying it as soon as you get through the Heist as you then have access to the rest of the city (If you have a street kid path you can access this much earlier as you can simply travel to the Coyote Cojo fast travel point). Though there are other ways to get here that you can try and google if you want....

Anyway the weapon shops around Night City all can sell you weapons, but they sometimes have weapons with extra attributes such as reducing the charge time for tech weapons by 1.095%, reducing the maximum charge required for tech weapons to penetrate walls by 50%, and fully charged tech weapons deals 10% more damage. But they don't always have them and sometimes it's hard to know when they'll have them.

It turns out that if you buy or sell something, save the game, and then completely
close out of the Cyberpunk 2077 app when you go back in and load that save the shop you're at will have attributed weapons. Now the attibutes you get as well as the number of mod slots you get are random (as with most things in this game) so you'll have to redo this many multiple times until you get what you want. But it's repeatable and easy to do since all you have to do is get to the store and do it.

As for what you want....honestly it's your decision but if you want an Achilles that functions like the Widow Maker you have to go for certain things. For starters the one attribute that honestly all tech weapons should have in my opinion is one that fires 2 shots at once but significantly lowers the rate of fire. Now the lowering of the rate of fire sucks, but Widow Maker has the exact same problem so for the Achilles it's fine. Regardless if you get an Achilles that has this attribute it functions (at least in firing sake) like the Widow Maker. Now obviously you should aim for an Achilles that has Chemical damage as that's the same as Widow Maker, but you should also try and get one with a charge multiplier on it as it'll do more damage when charged.

The shop you want to do this in is the weapon shop in the City Center, specifically where the Halsey and MLK fast travel point is. You can get the Achilles in the weapon shop in the Glen area as well, but it's random there where it's not in this shop.

As a side note (just in case anyone's wondering) you can't craft an Achilles with these attributes, trust me I've tried many times it just doesn't work. Also it's going to take you all a lot of time....I've seen videos of this where they just show it like it's easy to do and it just ain't that easy. For an example I'm currently trying to
get an Omaha pistol with this same attribute, a charge multiplier, and the most mod slots it can have and even after trying off and on for an entire week I still haven't got one....so be warned that it's going to take a while. But if you're persistant enough then you can get one.

  @Mike B I'm sorry to double post, but to restart the second method's process you have to use the skip time feature to go 24 hours ahead so that the weapons will reset to their normal states then buy/sell something.
