Mika Häkkinen and The Griddy
The two-time world champion Mika Häkkinen will be available in My Team career mode after redeeming him through in-game messages between October 17 and November 7. Sadly it's just an AI and we still can't drive his famous championship-winning McLaren due to the lack of classic cars in F1 22.
Following the recent merger between Codemasters and EA, there is no surprise that the famous The Griddy celebration made its way into the F1 game. You can now use custom celebrations to further hype your victory on a podium.
Smaller Quality of Life Updates in F1 22 Patch 1.12
Most of the following changes greatly improve the competitive online experience of the game as well as casual gameplay.
- Fixed the game crashing before reaching the main menu on the Steam Deck platform
- Fixed an issue that under an 'immersive' Safety car, a player might gain position illegally without any penalty, which was a long-lasting problem going back even to F1 2018
- Parc Ferme rules no longer apply to the race after a qualifying session
- Fixed a bug where ERS increase/decrease buttons weren't working in Qualifying
- Fixed an issue in Time Trail where invalidation of the next lap sometimes allowed the next lap to register on the leaderboard as a clean drive
- Made the last chicane at Suzuka more sensitive to corner-cutting penalty
- Fixed the issue where unsafe pit releases might force the car to go unnaturally slow
- Changing the setting 'Pit Stop Experience in Social Play now affects the whole lobby, as it sometimes worked only on a host
- Fixed an issue with inactive display on the Thrustmaster T248 and 50% brake deadzone on Heusinkveld pedals
- Now setting radio verbosity to 'Critical' or 'Response Only' won't mute victory radio calls
- Fixed that sometimes in spectator mode the track surface can get dark and flicker following a player's DNF
- More unnamed small bug fixes and general stability improvements
F1 22 Patch 1.12 brought a lot of changes to the game and we'll have to wait and see what future patches hold.
