Monster Hunter Rise is just around the corner, with a release slated for late March. The franchise is known for its incredible monster design and fun gameplay. In this article, we'll briefly go over all the 42 monsters that have been confirmed to be in the game so far.
Of the confirmed monsters, there are 24 large monsters and 18 small monsters. Large monsters are usually the bosses of the main hunts whereas small monsters are specific to the areas the hunts take place in.
Monster Hunter Rise: Confirmed Small Monsters [18]
Altaroth
These creatures were introduced in Monster Hunter 3, as the species Neopterons. They're insect-like creatures that inhabit many areas and are known to absorb fruit, mushrooms, and honey, which they carry back to their nests.
Anteka
The Anteka are antlered Herbivores that were first introduced in Monster Hunter 2. They are known to be the snowy-region counterparts to Kelbi.
Baggi
These Bird Wyverns, first introduced in Monster Hunter Tri, have the ability to put others to sleep using their special liquid spit.
Bnahabra
These are pervasive Flying Shell Insects that are similar to Vespoids, first introduced in Monster Hunter 3.
Bombadgy
This Fanged Beast is a small omnivorous creature making its debut with Monster Hunter Rise. When threatened, the flammable gas that flows in its body gets expelled out.
Bullfango
This Fanged Beast (formerly classified as a Herbivore) was first introduced in Monster Hunter.
Felyne
Felynes are bipedal cats of the Lynian class of creatures that are also capable of communicating in the human language. They were first introduced in Monster Hunter.
Gajau
The Gajau is a Piscine Wyvern introduced in Monster Hunter 3.
Gargwa
These Bird Wyverns with vestigial wings were first introduced in Monster Hunter Portable 3rd.
Izuchi
Another debutante from Monster Hunter Rise, this Bird Wyvern has a scythe-shaped tail that it uses to attack, climb trees and cut fruit.
Jagras
These Fanged Wyverns are fairly new to the series, having made their debut with Monster Hunter World.
Kelbi
These Herbivores are gentle creatures, and their horns have healing properties. They were first introduced in Monster Hunter.
Melynx
Similar to the Felynes, these Lynians have more of a rogue streak as they are known to steal things. They were introduced in Monster Hunter.
Popo
Herbivores introduced in Monster Hunter 2, these creatures are rather gentle and are seen with a thick coating of fur.
Remobra
These are Snake Wyverns that were introduced in Monster Hunter 2. They're often seen near Elder Dragons.
Slagoth
These are Herbivores that were first introduced in Monster Hunter Portable 3rd.
Wroggi
These poisonous carnivorous Bird Wyverns were introduced in Monster Hunter 3.
Zamite
The juvenile form of Zamtrois, these amphibian Piscine Wyverns were introduced in Monster Hunter 4.
Monster Hunter Rise: Confirmed Large Monsters [24]
Aknosom
This fiercely territorial Bird Wyvern will make wits debut in the franchise with Monster Hunter Rise.
Anjanath
Anjanath was first introduced in Monster Hunter World. This Tyrannosaurus resembling Brute Wyvern is said to be easily tracked by its mucus and footprints.
Arzuros
This forest- and mountain-dwelling Fanged Beast made its first appearance in Monster Hunter Portable 3rd.
Barioth
The King of the ever-frozen Tundra region, this Flying Wyvern was first introduced in Monster Hunter 3.
Bishaten
This omnivorous fruit-flinging Fanged Beast is another Monster Hunter Rise debutante.
Goss Harag
A strange cross between a bear and a namahage (demon-like being), this Fanged Beast will be seen for the first time in the icy regions of Monster Hunter Rise.
Great Baggi
An excellent commander of lesser Baggis, this Bird Wyvern was first seen terrorizing new hunters with its pack in Monster Hunter 3.
Great Izuchi
Similar to the Great Baggi, the Great Izuchi selects two lesser Izuchis as its bodyguards. This Bird Wyvern makes its first appearance in Monster Hunter Rise.
Great Wroggi
Another Bird Wyvern relative of the Baggi, Jaggi, and Izuchi is the Wroggi. Much like its cousins, it roams around with a pack of lesser Wroggi. It made its first appearance in Monster Hunter Portable 3rd.
Jyuratodus
This territorial Piscine Wyvern is the mud cousin of the annoying Lavasioth. It made its debut in the Wildspire Wastes of Monster Hunter World.
Khezu
This terrible thing, somehow classified as a Flying Wyvern, made its first appearance in Monster Hunter, though I quite frankly wish it didn't.
Kulu-Ya-Ku
Had dodos not gone extinct, evolution would have ensured that this Bird Wyvern would have made its debut in the real world instead of Monster Hunter World.
Lagombi
This giant rabbit-like Fanged Beast with exceptional hearing was first seen in Monster Hunter Portable 3rd.
Magnamalo
The big bad poster boy of Monster Hunter Rise, this Fanged Wyvern releases a special purple "Hellfire" gas when it eats other monsters.
Mizutsune
This weirdly slender and slick fox-like Leviathan has been giving hunters a reason to not shower since Monster Hunter Generations.
Pukei-Pukei
This chameleon-flavored oddity made it vibrant debut in Monster Hunter World, classified as a Bird Wyvern.
Rathalos
Dubbed the "King of the Skies" these male Flying Wyverns were first introduced in Monster Hunter, and have been iconic in representation the franchise throughout its history.
Rathian
The female counterpart of the Rathalos, this Flying Wyvern dubbed the "Queen of the Land" was introduced in Monster Hunter.
Royal Ludroth
Despite its appearances, this creature is classified as a Leviathan. It was first introduced in Monster Hunter 3.
Somnacanth
Another Leviathan, this mermaid-like territorial monster will make its debut in Monster Hunter Rise.
Tetranodon
This kappa-like rotund Amphibian is yet another monster making its debut in Monster Hunter Rise.
Tigrex
The star of the show from Monster Hunter Freedom 2, this aggressive, agile, and fierce Flying Wyvern returns once again.
Tobi-Kadachi
This electric squirrel-like Fanged Wyvern, first seen in Monster Hunter World, builds up static electricity within its fur.
Ratna-Kadaki
Little is known about this Monster Hunter Rise debutante aside from the fact that it is a Temnoceran, being a giant creepy crawly with the ability to spew fire and trap you in its sticky web.
