Whether it is the first time you play Ghost of Tsushima (this DLC can be purchased separately for 19.99 USD) or if you completed the adventure in 2020, we are going to clarify how to access Iki Island in Ghost of Tsushima without any problem.
How to Access Iki Island in Ghost of Tsushima: Complete Walkthrough
The first requirement: Complete the entire act 1
The first condition to be able to travel to the island is to have completely completed the main missions of the first act, the last one being "The shadow of the samurai", where we return to the castle where the Khan threw Jin over the bridge. It is a long process to get here, as Act 1 is the one that takes the longest (at least 10 hours), but it has its reward, of course.
Because this castle acts as a barrier between the island of Tsushima (an extensive initial area of the adventure) and the island of Toyotama, which is just from which we will activate access to the island of Iki a little later. Be patient...
Second: Complete the mission "A new horizon"
With the story advancing "two days later" in time, Act 2 opens by showing the cruelty of the Khotun Khan and Ryuzo's traitor. After this, we return with Jin from the liberated castle with his uncle, to accompany him to liberate another area shortly after entering the Toyotama region, in the Akashima area.
After completing the mission "A new horizon", we will have one last step.
And last: access the mission "Journey to the past"
Located one kilometer from the previous liberated area, if we go to the Diary in the menu, we can directly mark as an active story the mission "Journey to the Past", which is the one that will finally grant us access to the island of Iki after completing this short mission in a settlement located in a coastal area.
We will first investigate what happens to the villagers until we run into an enemy ambush, with one of the new features of this expansion: the shaman. This unit is very dangerous since it reinforces the rest of the enemies making them more aggressive and do us more damage. So prioritize your attacks over the shaman first and then take down the rest to make it easier for you.
When you finish, Yuna will appear and after this, the mission will be finished, seeing right in the part of this Drowned Coast a ship waiting for you to sail to the island of Iki. You get on and go. Although be very careful, that this new region is very hard and it will take time to return to Toyotama ... But the trip will be well worth it.
