Hades, the acclaimed rogue-like dungeon crawler, and Supergiant Games' latest success is filled with great and charismatic characters, with deep lore, and fascinating relationships with the game's protagonist, Zagreus, the Prince of the Underworld.
Between the cast, one of the first you meet is Sisyphus, once king filled with greed, that, after cheating death twice, was sentenced by Hades to roll a giant boulder up a stern hill, only for it to always slide down when about to reach the top.
In the game, we see a more knowledgeable and cheerful Sisyphus. For that, the shade becomes an ally for Prince Zagreus, always willing to help as he can on their encounters in Tartarus.

Hades Guide: How to Free Sisyphus - A Step-by-Step Walkthrough
Sisyphus, just like almost all the other NPCs, can have his affinity increased by receiving bottles of Nectar. After giving him a bottle for the first time, he will award players with the keepsake Shattered Shackle, which increases Zagreus' overall attack when not power up by boons.
You can unlock his favor, a quest needed to be fulfilled to further enhance the following character affinities, after giving him 6 bottles of Nectar.
How to Free Sisyphus
To unlock his favor, you first need to give Sisyphus 6 bothers of Nectar, and then initiate the following dialogue by Zagreus: ''Sisyphus, I know you tend to be in remarkably good spirits, all things considered, but there must be something I can do to help with your predicament, isn't there?''
After that, you just need to follow the steps below:
- Get access to the Administrative Chamber. A privilege that can be brought through the House Contractor.
- After that, you will need to have gotten or to unlock conversations with both Megaera and Hades about the Shades situation. To talk to the fury about the subject, you will need to have at least 5 of her hearts unlocked.
- Then talk to Nyx about the Administrative Chamber. Can be done after raising her to 5 hearts.
- To finish, you will need to talk to Nyx again, this time about Sisyphus's situation, in which she will give you the location of his file on the chamber.
After following all the steps above, you will only need to buy Knave-King's Sentence, available at the house contractor, to finish the favor, and free Sisyphus.
- The item will cost 4 Diamonds.
How to Unlock Companion Shady
After successfully freeing the former king, after given a bottle of ambrosia, he will then give players the Companion Shady, which can be used in battle. Easy, right?
When used, the companion will summon Sysiphus and his friend ''bouldy'' to your aid. He will then give 1000 damage to enemies on his path and drop a substantial amount of Darkness, Obols, and Health.
